Can you have an affordable, simple to use (we mean no virus, no updates and no maintenance), and environmentally friendly PC? How does 20W or less energy consumption sound to you?

TechNovus Corp welcomes you to the world of cloud computing.

What is a cloud computer?

A cloud computer is a combination of a hardware device and software services delivered through the Internet (broadband connection). The hardware device needs to be connected to a monitor, keyboard and mouse. Through an Internet connection, the operating system, applications and storage will be delivered.

We will be launching the Nova Navigator at a cost of A$199-A$249 for the hardware device. This will have some local apps such as a browser, skype, media player etc on the PC and the rest of the apps like Open Office and MS Office coming from the Cloud (server). These services along with free technical support and online storage will be provided on a monthly subscription.

The managed solution will provide a “no virus, no spyware and no maintenance” solution to users.

In the coming months we will be launching a second computer, a ‘pure’ cloud computer called the NetPC at $100 with a monthly subscription.

With a growing wave of software being provided as a service (SaaS), the new wave of advanced web apps provided through a browser, a cloud computer is best placed to exploit this opportunity. The  cloud  computer  has  the  potential  to  change  the  dynamics  of  low-cost  computing  and computing in general in Australia. Due to its simplicity (simple log in), subscription based model, free software updates, virus protection, technical phone and e-mail support along with a green 20W or less energy usage  and long life,  this will bring  a new  type of  computing  for  consumers across Australia.

That is the promise of the new generation of computing: Peace of Mind. Computing.

The Navigator will be launched in Adelaide in October 2008. Details coming soon!

Experience Life At the Edge - The Navigator Giveaway Competition at Diversity

I’m a firm believer in the Net PC concept - the idea that a low power machine, leveraging web applications and storage, is a useful tool - lightweight in terms of ecological footprint and lightweight in terms of cost.

I’m excited to introduce TechNovus, a company out of Australia that is launching their hybrid Cloud Computer to the Australasian market. As part of their launch, and in recognition of the fact that Diversity is a Cloud Computing evangelist, TechNovus and us are joining together to run a competition. One lucky winner will receive - gratis - a Nova Navigator ‘hybrid’ cloud computer along with a 6 month subscription to TechNovus’ cloud based applications.

Nova Navigator “cloud computer” runs Linux, Windows

With the Asus Eee Box and Dell Hybrid Studio already whetting our appetites for cheap, mini desktops, it was only a matter of time before someone took the concept to the next level…

The concept makes sense – if you’re buying a cheap Atom desktop or second notebook to browse the web and send email, you might as well go the whole hog and run everything online, right?

TechNovus intros Atom-powered Nova Navigator cloud computer

“Cloud computing concepts for netbook / nettop-sized machines aren’t ll new, but TechNovus is looking to jump in head first with its Nova Navigator…

The unit runs Windows (Server) and SUSE Linux side-by-side, and aside from a few core apps (Firefox, Skype and a media player), everything else is ran from the cloud.”

Cloud Computing start-up company is looking for resellers

“TechNovus is targeting consumers, SMEs and educational institutions to buy its product…TechNovus was inviting innovative partners in A/NZ and Oceania who
want to capitalize on this new wave of computing solutions.

…resellers can earn a margin of between 10-15 percent if they sell the product”
